That all technology design/suppling companies are not the same is stating the obvious. The road to better home technology is littered with less than awesome experiences. So, what should a builder, designer or architect look for in a technology partner?
Here are some easy checkpoints:
i. Does the tech company have qualified designers not just salespeople
ii. Do they have a track record of outstanding service and response
iii. Will they be around for the long haul; because frankly the systems require it.
iv. Do they service other companies like yours?
v. Will a large project consume all their resources?
vi. Does the company have the technical bench strength to perform consistently?
vii. Do they provide technical documentation at a level on par with your requirements?
viii. Do they finish on time and on budget?
ix. Is their finish quality representative of true craftsmanship?
x. Do they have your client/their client’s best interest at heart?
We find tech companies who specialize in the upscale project to consistently meet these ten tenets. It is better to pay more and receive the very best experience and service then save a few dollars and experience much less.
Focus on the experience before and after.
If you are not getting this quality of service and work, try a reputable company on your next project, it will sharpen your current supplier and give you a true reference for quality in home technology design.
You deserve the very best, seek them out.
[And, for our dealers, take the ten point test and work on what your company lacks] You develop a real good story around what you can deliver.
